I've seen this "challenge" going around in many blogs and felt like doing it myself too! Nina's blog had really interesting answers and that's where I got the questions. Shall we begin?
1.What is the best thing in your country?
Definitely nature. I still can't get over how breathtaking mountains are or how happy walking along the river makes me. I could just spend all my time outside. I live only 20 min from Zurich and here I have endless fields and hills to give me distance from the city. Switzerland's size is also perfect. Everything is so close (or at least for me few hour drive to get out of country feels super short). One last thing: everything's so well organized and clean. I'm talking about public transportation, places and such things that make life more comfy. I could just continue telling good things about Switzerland for ten more chapters but I have to leave this one here .
How about the worst?
I was about to say the language (swiss german) but it already feels easier for me and quite understandable. Instead I'm going to say bureaucracy. Although this is not a big minus, everything requires tons of paperwork and I've fought so many paper wars :D I already had problems to get a new visa to stay here and it takes a long time to fix these things. Luckily I'm not alone in this.
3. If you could travel anywhere in the world, for free, for two weeks, where would you go?
I would definitely go travel some Asian countries I have always wanted to visit (Sri Lanka-Malaysia-Indonesia). The last years I have only traveled Europe so would be amazing to go more far away. I truly miss swimming in the see and sweating in tropical environment.
4. Where would you travel again?
All the countries I have been! But for now if I can only choose one, I would say Thailand. I traveled there four times with my family and have amazing memories of those times.
5. Which Finnish food do you miss the most abroad?
Oh there are quite some. One that I miss the most must be ruispalat (the dark bread made of rye). I have found okay-ish options for that but they're still missing the certain taste.
6. Do you think you could move back to Finland one day?
Hard to say. For now I would say no. Switzerland is my home and I love living here. There is just nothing that would give me a reason to go back. Of course you never know.
7. What is the most exciting/ interesting holiday in your country?
First of August (Swiss national day). It's just a very traditional day. Everything is decorated with Swiss & cantons own flags. Not to mention fireworks and festivals of course.
8. What was the hardest in moving abroad?
Paperwork. Change of language. Moving abroad was not hard at all, hard is what comes few months after. (Adaptation part sucks.)
9. Could you imagine living somewhere else than in your country or Finland?
Why not? Other European countries would be not too bad. More far away I would only live part-time. But I still would prefer to stay in Switzerland.
10. What was the most memorable moment of 2017?
Bringing our dog Akira home for the first time. I'll never forget that day.
10+1. And the bonus question- are you going to travel somewhere this year?
To Finland actually. I have flights booked for October. I'm going to visit my hometown after almost one and half years.
